It’s not often something I talk about here on the blog, but I am very much a plus size lady. I might not be currently the largest I’ve ever been – I’m a size 18 and probably about half a stone off my heaviest ever – but I’m certainly the least happy I’ve ever been with myself.

I’m a fickle dieter. I have days where I’m so “get up and go” that I manage a work out and to eat well, but it all goes to pot soon after.

Looking back on old photos, it’s clear to see I was never going to have the same slim figure as my Mom and sister – I’ve always very much been on the chunkier side. But now that I’m the wrong side of 29, my metabolism, pathetic as it was, has somewhat slowed down and I can no longer ignore the fact that the pounds are piling on at a rate of knots.

When I saw Harley Street Hypnotherapist Malinder “Mindy” Gill was on the look out for bloggers to try out her Ultimate Weight Loss Hypnosis online course, I figured it was worth a go! I know my relationship with food is bad, no matter how many times I’ve tried to give up cake it’s still my go to reward when I manage to do something. Or even just my go to treat if I get 5 minutes to myself. And I don’t mean just a little bit of cake…

The online course lasts for 6 weeks and includes mp3s of hypnosis sessions to listen to a few times in each week to help with the things that hold us back when it comes to getting fitter and slimmer.

The course contents include:

Week 1: Hypnosis for Emotional Eating
Week 2: Hypnosis for Mental Detox
Week 3: Hypnosis for Portion Control
Week 4: Hypnosis for Exercise Motivation
Week 5: Hypnosis for Cravings
Week 6: Hypnosis for Self-Esteem

I’m looking forward to seeing how this will go – I freely admit that I’m a bit of a cynic when it comes to hypnotherapy. The only experience I have of hypnotism is watching Derren Brown! I know hypnotherapy is a whole other kettle of fish, and I’m willing to put aside my scepticism in order to give this a go.

The programme isn’t designed to make you eat certain things, or hypnotise you into loving running (mores the pity) but instead it’s designed to get to the emotional root of your eating and exercise habit, and to hopefully give you the tools to make healthier diet decisions in the future. Mindy also recommends taking the course alongside a healthy diet and exercise regime. Personally, I’m off to Slimming World and hoping the rain stays away long enough for me to start a Couch 2 5k course again shortly.
